5AM CLUB - Own Your Morning, Elevate Your Life

A few weeks ago I started reading the book "5AM Club" by Robin Sharma. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like - a club for a people who wakes up at 5:00 in the morning. Madness I know.


I love a good healthy self developing challenge and Robin truly convinced me that this was something only real champions do. Status quo has never been something I related to so of course I took the challenge.




Today is my twelfth day of waking up as soon as my alarm goes off at 5. "What the heck are you doing that early in the morning?!" is a question many have asked me. According to Mr.Sharma, it is required that you practice the 20/20/20 formula, aka "Victory Hour", in order for you to experience the positive effects that 5AM Club promises.


To name a few of these positive effects:


A flush of happy hormones is released first thing in the morning

Everyone loves a big dose of dopamine and serotonin, even more so if it's clean

The BDNF levels rise

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is a signaling protein belonging to the group of neurotrophins that act as nerve growth factors in the central nervous system

Better grades or work

It enhances your productivity – there are less distractions early in the morning

Helps you maintain a healthy diet (and body)

Late snoozer often skip breakfast

Assists with better mental health

Eliminating the stress in the morning (or during the day) of feeling rushed

Gives you more time to fit in exercise

No more excuses of being too busy

Improves the quality of your sleep

Putting you in more of a consistent routine


So, back to what I actually do during the Victory hour after I wake up at 5.

Will I wake up at 5am for the rest of my life now? I don't think so...

You should learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist.

I already see the incredible effects it has on me. More joy, energy, creativity and productivity. Less stress, worry, doubt and tiredness.


But I freaking love sleeping in. I'm actually the Queen of snoozing. To be completely honest, I hate every morning right now! Which last for about 15 minutes. After that I feel empowered, awake and excited. Is it worth it? Absolutely!



To find your best self you must loose your weak self.

Except for the fact that I'm deeply passionate about how the human brain and body works as well as mental, physical and spiritual health I'm also incredibly curious to see what 66 days of practicing this formula will do with my mental limitations. More on that next week.
